Our wish, at Suria Patisserie, is for you to simply enjoy our delights, prepared the old fashioned way but with a modern twist. Suria is a family run business and all our chocolates, patisseries and wedding cakes are handmade and prepared with passion.
Wherever practical our ingredients are sourced locally from around Yorkshire to support our local farmers and producers and we take pride in using organic ingredients and free range eggs. We use Venezuelan Chocolate for its rare and distinctive flavours for all our chocolate creations. Having lived there for seven year, visiting the cacao farm, we have decided to support the cacao growers from this region.

Sarah held a passion for baking from an early age and for the past three years has been designing and creating all manner of cakes for every occasion. Her unbridled enthusiasm and love of baking inspired her to create the Sugar Monkey Cake Company in which she aims to provide the ‘perfect cake experience’, from the initial design consultation to the delivery and set up on your special day.
Sarah’s artistic flair and ‘anything is possible’ attitude is contagious and means that no two of her cakes are the same, each cake is individually designed to compliment your wedding day incorporating colours, styles and even your personalities! For an extra special personal touch, caricature cake toppers can be sculpted using polymer clay to create a miniature representation of the happy couple.
All Sugar Monkey Cake Company cakes are made using the finest quality organic and free range ingredients wherever possible as Sarah believes that ultimately a cake can only taste as good as the ingredients that it’s made from.

Cake making and decorating started as a hobby. With three children and lots of friends and family there was always an occasion for a cake. An unexpected change in career happened when my banking job came to an end and I took a 'taster' course in cake decoration at Hull College of Further Education, a whirlwind two days of everything from chocolate to royal icing. This led me to a three year Centra course and one fantastic week at the Squires International School. Fourteen years on the hobby has become a passion which fulfils the creative nature in me.
